a box full of memories.

Some of my most recent artwork - a shoebox full to the brim of personal and found objects, ephemera, bric-à-brac, photographs old and new, tins, matchboxes and various other pieces. I plan to develop these objects further later on in the college year, creating a Joseph Cornell inspired assemblage piece,  hopefully evoking memories, stories and nostalgia, continuing on from the piece which I made for my National Diploma in Art and Design final major project. I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Love, Jazzabelle.

  1. Looking good! I've recently become inspired by random bits and bobs myself especially after seeing Carrie and Lucy's house, and it might inform my work too...somehow. I definitely need to read up on Joseph Cornell some more and figure out where it's all going.

  4. All your little bits looks so lovely and I'm really looking forward to seeing the final product later in the year. Just read your post about last year's project and I think what you created was beautiful. The old and new together with found items and your own is really interesting and so catching on the eye. I love the 3D element too and the wilting rose was such a fantastic idea. Hope you got top marks for that one =)

  6. I like the fact that your art is always very recognisable as being 'yours' - I'd be interested to see more of it.
I'm really enjoying working on my art GCSE. We've just been given a new list of inspirations to choose from, and I think I'm going to go with the theme of 'contrasts'.

  8. How delightful, my a level class is also doing the theme of nostalgia. Those tiny bottles are so beautiful, I really cannot wait to see your final piece. It's really lovely to delve back into the past and pick out all those little bits and pieces. Though the majority of mine are chewed up mcdonalds toys, not so nice, hehe.
Thanks for your comment, I'm doing really well, how are you? I feel as though we haven't spoken in ages, hehe how times flies in the blogosphere in such a relatively short space of time :)

  9. I have a shoebox like this too, in fact I have two as one became so full of personal little things that I had to make a new one, which is wrapped in wrapping paper so that it looks pretty hehe.

And in reply, thank you - I've literally been wearing that coat everyday - I'm in love ha! And I hope you do an outfit post on your Urban Oufitters buy as it sounds fab :) Wasn't their 75% sale this Jan brilliant? I was just sad that I had blown all my money and couldn't buy anything lol x

  15. I love this so very much so. Your artwork is so beautiful it really is. I adore all the little nostalgia and details. I love collecting vintage tins, just the fact they have aged makes for there appeal.

I'm seeing Legally Blonde a week today! I've been feeling rather uninspired lately- life really does get you down sometimes but I guess no one ever said it was easy. Lets hope London cheers me up a little bit and gives me some inspiration xxx
